The Concept Designs
Three different expansion directions have been considered, and two concept directions are moving forward. One concept would expand the La Crosse Center to the west and the other to the north. The images shown below detail the space, configuration, and primary features of the two options.
The North Concept expands the La Crosse Center north in the direction of the Pearl Walkway. The expansion does not extend far enough to block the view of the river from Pearl Street. The concept features a 9,520 sq ft ballroom and a 7,854 square foot exhibit hall. This concept would remove and replace the existing North Hall of the La Crosse Center. The total expansion area is 56,942 sq ft.
The West Concept expands the La Crosse Center in the direction of the river. The expansion extends over Harborview Plaza (Front Street) and to the edge of Riverside Park without encroaching into the park. The concept features a 12,202 sq ft ballroom and prefunction area that overlook Riverside Park. The design includes a 7,854 square foot exhibit hall. This concept would remove and replace the existing North Hall of the La Crosse Center. The total expansion area is 61,311 sq ft.
South Expansion Area
Design concepts have been considered that would expand the La Crosse Center toward the south and would utilize the space currently occupied by the Radisson Center. This area has been studied, but concepts are not being developed further, unless property is acquired by the City of La Crosse.
